Fundamentals of Cooling Architecture II

Selecting the appropriate cooling architecture is one of the key components in data center design. Matching the right architecture to your data center requirements will be foundational to the long term success of your data center. This course is a continuation of Fundamentals of Cooling Architecture I Heat Removal Methods and will continue to explore the various approaches to cooling the data center, along with the appropriate application, for each of the architectures discussed.
At the completion of this course, you will be able to: • Explain the various cooling technologies as well as define their respective components which are designed to transport heat energy from the IT environment to the outside atmosphere • Discuss the importance of the location of the cooling unit, and how this location plays a significant role in data center design including: • Overall cooling efficiency • IT power density (kW / rack), and • IT rack space utilization • Characterize the nine basic approaches to distribute air in data centers and network rooms, and you will be able to • Describe how these approaches vary in performance, cost, ease of implementation, as well as the various advantages
